Discussion Boards

By completing this course, you will be better prepared to communicate with your students online and to demonstrate a strong teaching presence, by reinforcing effective writing skills.  You will also learn about the types of interactions in the online classroom and how to create engaging discussion board questions that encourage critical and creative thinking. You will learn how to create discussion board rubrics and set up a discussion board forum inside of Blackboard.

All of the DEEP courses are hosted in BlackBoard. To enroll in the course, simply log into your BlackBoard account and you will find the link under the "For Instructors" tab, housed in the "Faculty Professional Development Opportunities" module, as shown in the picture below.

Email Notifications in Blackboard

Want to know when your submissions have been graded? Need automatic notification when a submission needs to be graded? In Blackboard you can set up notifications via email in just a few steps.

From the main Blackboard page after login, click Notifications Dashboard in the upper left corner of the screen:

In the Alerts content area, click Edit Notifications Settings:

There are several ways to configure notifications. For the purposes of this tutorial, you will see how to configure your needs for a single course.

Under Edit Individual Course Settings, click the course for which you would like to receive notifications:

As a course participant, to receive an email after an assignment has been graded, under Email, check Item Graded. The click Submit:

As a course grader, to receive an email after an assignment has been submitted by a single student, under Email, check Assignment Needs Grading. Then click Submit:
