IN-PERSON CONSULTATIONS - COVID-19 GUIDELINES

The Noel Studio is excited to resume IN-PERSON consultations for the Spring 2021 semester! To ensure the safety of students, staff, and faculty visitors and our own Noel studio staff members, we will adhere strictly to applicable COVID-19 guidelines:

  • IN-PERSON consultations will be limited to 45 minutes to ensure adequate time to reset and clean surfaces/computers/etc. between consultations.

  • IN-PERSON consultations must be scheduled at least an hour in advance; we will not offer in-person drop-in consultations for Spring 2021.

  • Availability of IN-PERSON consultations is limited in order to ensure the Noel Studio adheres to physical/social distancing and reduced occupancy guidelines. Our scheduling software will display the most up-to-date information regarding the number of available consultations.

  • Students should check-in with the Desk Consultant at our reception desk (located under the spiral staircase) no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of their consultation.

  • Students and consultants will wear masks—no exceptions!

  • Students who cannot adhere to masking guidelines for any reason, including medical reasons, should make use of our online consultations.

  • Students and consultants will maintain at least 6ft physical/social distancing.

  • Students and consultants are not permitted to eat or drink during consultations.

  • Students and consultants will use collaborative online tools to review and/or make edits/suggestions to student work to ensure adherence to physical/social distancing guidelines. Students will need access to a computer or other internet-capable device, and there are a limited number of computers available in the Noel Studio.

  • Students will clean their area and devices after the consultation and/or when they leave the space, using the spray and paper towels provided outside of office 210Q.

  • Record of Consultations (i.e. “proof of attendance” or notes) will not be available in hard copy for students, but will instead be emailed to students in a digital format within 24 hous of the consultation.

  • The Noel Studio reserves the right to deny access to IN-PERSON consultations and/or the space to any student who refuses to adhere to Noel Studio, EKU Libraries, and broader campus COVID-19 guidelines.

To learn how to schedule IN-PERSON (and ONLINE) consultations, visit FOR STUDENTS>SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. For assistance, use the chat box at studio.eku.edu

ONLINE Consultations will remain an option for students throughout the Spring 2021 semester. For more information about ONLINE Consultations, visit FOR STUDENTS>ONLINE CONSULTATIONS.

General Changes to Operations

  • The Noel Studio will have adjusted SPACE hours for the spring 2021 semester. Please visit our Hours & Location for details.

  • The Noel Studio is located inside the Crabbe Main Library. In addition to the COVID-19 consultation protocols outlined in IN-PERSON CONSULTATIONS - COVID-19 GUIDELINES above, visitors to the Noel Studio must follow all guidelines established by the University and the Libraries:

    • Visitors to the Crabbe Main Library and Noel Studio are limited to ONLY EKU students, faculty and staff.

    • All visitors are required to wear a mask at all times—no exceptions!

    • Visitors are required to practice 6-feet physical/social distancing at all times.

    • Furniture has been placed and/or removed to discourage large group congregations; furniture cannot be moved or otherwise rearranged.

    • Visitors must wipe down the surfaces they used when leaving.

    • Some spaces, including the Noel Studio’s small study rooms, have been closed to the public to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

    • Due to the risks of sharing physical items without a quarantine period, the Noel Studio will not provide dry-erase markers. Students wishing to use dry-erase boards must bring their own dry-erase markers and must continue to adhere to the 6-feet physical/social distancing guidelines (i.e. no collaborative use of dry-erase boards).

See https://libguides.eku.edu/covid-19 for more information about how EKU Libraries and the Noel Studio are adhering to campus COVID-19 guidelines, including information about accessing the Main Library/Noel Studio.

The Noel Studio reserves the right to deny access to IN-PERSON consultations and/or the space to any student who refuses to adhere to Noel Studio, EKU Libraries, and broader campus COVID-19 guidelines.

COVID-19 - Food and Drink

In previous semesters, unrestricted food and beverages have been allowed in EKU Libraries and the Noel Studio. Due to COVID-19 and the requirements for social distancing and mask wearing in all EKU buildings, EKU Libraries and the Noel Studio made the difficult decision to temporarily change our food and drink policy.

Current Food Guidelines are:

  • Masks can be down/off only when actively eating or taking a drink; the presence of food/drink nearby does not permit sitting in our spaces unmasked.

  • Visitors must be in a social distanced location away from others to consume food and beverages.

  • Visitors and consultants cannot eat or drink during in-person consultations.

  • Visitors cannot eat or drink while speaking with members of our staff (for example, when checking in for a consultation with the Desk Consultant at our reception desk).

  • Visitors are not allowed to consume food and beverages while moving, walking, or conversing with other visitors.

  • The Noel Studio reserves the right to deny access to IN-PERSON consultations and/or the space to any student who refuses to adhere to Noel Studio, EKU Libraries, and broader campus COVID-19 guidelines.
