What is the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity?
The Noel Studio for Academic Creativity is a student-focused integrated support service for writing, communication, and research. Our primary service is the consultation, a peer-to-peer conversation focused on the student's questions, ideas, and expectations and centered on the student's communication project/product or need.
In addition to consultations, the Noel Studio supports campus writing, communication, and research initiatives by partnering with faculty to offer workshops, services, and resources designed to support the development of creative and effective writing, communication, and research practices in every discipline.
How can I incorporate Noel Studio workshops into my Fall 2020 classes?
Asynchronous Online Instruction
If your classes are meeting face-to-face but have an online component (i.e. BlackBoard modules/discussion boards/etc.) or are taught completely asynchronously online, consider incorporating one or more of our Collaborate Workshops/Active Learning Toolkits. Newly converted into fully online modules, these workshops/toolkits explore foundational writing and communication topics. To learn more or request materials, visit REQUEST A WORKSHOP.
Synchronous Online Instruction
If you are holding regular class meetings online (whether through Zoom, Collaborate, or any other means) and would like a Noel Studio representative to facilitate a synchronous workshop, please contact us directly at email@example.com at least two weeks in advance of your preferred instructional date; approval is dependent upon demand, timeline, and facilitator and resource availability.
Co-designed Assignment Support
Not sure what you need and/or don’t see an existing module or resource that fits your needs? The Noel Studio can work with you to adapt our workshops, toolkits, and resources to meet assignment, course, and/or discipline needs, or to co-design new ways to support your assignments and students. If you'd like to work with the Noel Studio to design a tailored approach to a specific lesson or topic, contact the Noel Studio directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can an online consultation help my students?
Noel Studio Consultants are trained to help students with essays, presentations, research posters, visual aids, and more! We consult students from any major or class, and at any stage of the communication process—from brainstorming to final revision, and every point in between. Consultations are fully online for Fall 2020 to ensure access to all students, regardless of their location or mode of instruction. Students can learn more about Online Consultations by visiting For Students > Online Consultations.
Want to learn more about best practices for integrating consultations into your course expectations? See Incorporate & Encourage Consultations (Syllabus Recommendations) or contact us at email@example.com.
How can I encourage students to take advantage of Noel Studio consultations?

Asynchronous Online Orientations/Presentations
If your classes are meeting face-to-face but have an online component (i.e. BlackBoard modules/discussion boards/etc.) or are taught completely asynchronously online, consider introducing your students to the Noel Studio’s Online Consultations by embedding our informational flyers and video in your Blackboard course shells. To learn more or request materials, visit REQUEST A PRESENTATION OR ORIENTATION.
Synchronous Online Orientations/Presentations
If you are holding regular class meetings online (whether through Zoom, Collaborate, or any other means), consider pairing embedded resources in BlackBoard with an online Informational Q&A with a Noel Studio Consultant. Request embeddable resources AND an online informational Q&A session at REQUEST A PRESENTATION OR ORIENTATION. To better ensure availability, please place your request at least two weeks in advance of your preferred Q&A date; approval is dependent upon demand and facilitator availability.
